Rainbow Wheels of Light
Svadhisthana, The Second Chakra

Now that you've familiarized yourself with  the basics, and become grounded in the energy of Muladhara, the first chakra, let's journey forward and explore the wonders of Svadhisthana.
The color associated with this chakra is orange and the one of the translations of the name is "her special abode".

Svadhisthana is located between the navel and the pubic bone and relates to the element of water, hence to our emotional life and the subconscious, of which water is thought to be the symbol. She introduces the aspect of relationships into our lives as we reach out beyond the family unit for validation, new experiences and perhaps companionship. Our work ethic relates to  the healthy development of this chakra.

Balanced pleasures are a result of an intact functioning second chakra, as is assimilation of  nutrients i.e. food & energy, including oxygen. Therefore, there is a direct relationship (energetically speaking) with the way we breathe and utilize the pranic energy of air.

The second chakra energy influences our sexual and creative energies, not to be confused with the generative function of the first chakra. Monastics and warriors have classically directed the energies of the 2nd chakra upward to achieve goals in areas other than sexual release.

Physically this chakra relates to the kidneys, bladder, ovaries, uterus, small & large intestines, and the lumbar spine.
Svadhisthana governs the sense of taste.

Gemstones: Moonstone, carnelian, coral, jasper, bloodstone, raw ruby Unakite.

I do hope you've enjoyed this overview of Svadhisthana & will consider learning more about her and the other chakras in Explore the Experiences which includes a guided imagery relative to each.
